Shars Tool 48-3 TPI Thread Pitch Diameter Measuring Wire Attachment System (SKU# 303-9390) features a laminated chart compiled from the U.S. Standard Handbook, allowing you to measure thread size from 48-3 threads per inch and 0.5mm to 6mm metric pitch. The set includes 16 different wire sizes ranging from 0.018" diameter to 0.185" with 3 wires per size, each 3" long. The plastic holder has each slot printed with the corresponding wire size.

To use the wire system, select the proper size wires, match the wire size with the proper thread pitch dimension, slip two wires in the holder, place the holder on the micrometer's anvil, hold the micrometer in one hand and the third wire in the other, and check the threads. The maximum and minimum pitch diameter (E) for each class of thread can be found in machines' handbook.

The product includes a fitted case and 48 wires in 16 different sizes, all in a 60° configuration.
